Our cheerleading squad performs at various events, from local fares to competitions, which includes ones we host ourselves in Quedgeley.
We encourage our cheerleaders to take part but above all, have fun.
You can decide whether to join the competition team or just perform at the local shows. Anyone can take part in the competitions
regardless of ability; we want everyone to feel part of the team.
We keep our cheerleading lessons as affordable as possible and
open to all. The lessons not only improve cheerleading skills but
are a great way to meet new friends and gain confidence by being
part of a friendly squad.
New cheerleaders start only in the first two weeks of a term in
order to keep disruption to a minimum and allow for a progressive
term. This allows the cheerleaders to learn different dances, stunts
and tumbles together and progress as a team.
Cheerleading is a full contact form of dance and exercise. During
stunts cheerleaders stand on team members' legs and are lifted to
and caught from different levels. All stunts are taught by a UKCA
qualified coach and the cheerleaders' safety is always the coach's
first thought, ensuring correct technique is performed by all team
members.

About Gloucester Wildcats
We started our cheerleading lessons in September 2014 with the intention of offering something different to the children in the Quedgeley
area.
In the first term all of the children suggested different names for the squad and the best four were chosen and then voted on - Gloucester
Wildcats was by far the most popular name.
We aim to keep our cheerleading as affordable as possible and open to all. We have received grants from Quedgeley Parish Council and
Quedgeley Community Trust which enabled us to buy uniforms at no cost to our cheerleaders.
When we take part in local shows we do fundraising and we also look at other activities throughout the year to raise money. This is then
put towards trips, competition entries and additional uniforms.

FAQ’S
Do I need to be able to cheerlead or dance? No, beginers in all age groups are more than welcome.
Why do I need to pay in advance? We ask you to pay for a term so we know our numbers which enables us to plan the classes. I
do not let people join mid term so the class is not disrupted.
Do people get injured? Although every effort is made to avoid injuries sometimes people will get injured; bumps, bruises etc
especially when we are learning new lifts and stunts.
Can I take part if I am unfit or overweight? Yes, your fitness will improve with each class and it is great exercise.
What do I need to wear? A fitted t-shirt, long training bottoms (jogging bottoms etc), flat training shoes. Cheerleading shoes are
available but a pair with flat bottoms and laces from other shops (Sports Direct etc) will be more than ok. For competitions we will
provide the outfit.
Can a cheerleader go in a higher age group if I think they are particularly good or I want them to advance? No, the age groups are
to give the right mix in each class in terms of development and so all stunts can be performed. There are mixed abilities in all
classes and cheerleaders will be taught to their skill level so they will still progress when with their peers.
Will cheerleaders touch each other? Yes, as we will learn lifts, stunts, different moves that require contact. The coach will also
have to touch people to assist, show new moves etc.
Can I enter competitions? We have teams that enter competitions, it is up to you if you take part. Everyone can be in the
competition team regardless of ability.
Will I get further information? Every cheerleader will receive a welcome pack with additional information.
Does the coach have a DBS (previously CRB) check? Yes.
Is the coach insured? Yes.
